Rivers Casino customer information hacked in cyberattack

Rivers Casino Des Plaines, Illi., said that it suffered a cyberattack over the summer that compromised the private data of an undisclosed number of patrons and employees. While the attack occurred on or around August 12, it was only uncovered in early November, the casino said in a statement.

The gaming property warned that hackers may also have obtained a financial account, tax identification, Social Security, and passport numbers for a limited number of customers.

In August of 2019, the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was the victim of a cyberattack that compromised the personal information of their customers. The attack was discovered when casino officials noticed unusual activity on their computer network. The casino immediately notified law enforcement and began an investigation into the incident. It was later determined that the hackers had gained access to the casino's database, which contained customer information such as names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses. The hackers also gained access to some credit card information, though no financial information was compromised. The casino has since taken steps to improve their cybersecurity measures.
