Peter J. Holt, managing partner and chairman of the San Antonio Spurs, is the most recent owner of a major sports team in Texas to back two newly introduced sports betting bills. The Sports Betting Alliance includes every team from Texas in the four top professional sports organizations. Holt's support for the aforementioned sports betting legislation is therefore not surprising. Texas voters support the sports betting law that is being supported by team owners as well. According to a recent poll conducted by the Hobby School of Public Affairs at the University of Houston, 69% of respondents support legalizing both retail and online sports betting in their state.
