Wilfred Wong, the leader and executive director of Sands China, has reiterated earlier requests from the Chinese government to diversify the Macau gambling region. Macau has been severely affected since the Covid-19 pandemic started by the imposition of multiple closures, and a significant portion of the casino's revenue has stopped coming up due to the sharp decline in worldwide travel. The decision to diversify came after other Asian locations, like Singapore, largely absorbed Macau's gaming industry, which benefited from gambling establishments along with additional sightseeing opportunities.
