Concerning the decision not to forbid the sponsors in the Scottish league, a number of activists have spoken out. The English Premier League's prohibition on gambling sponsors on football shirts will not be followed by the Scottish Professional Football League. It was only recently passed, and by the end of the 2025–26 football season, the front-of-shirt restriction will be in effect. Statistics from the Scottish Health Survey show that 0.4% of the country's citizens are problem gamblers. This translates to a total of almost 18,000 individuals.
