Sotuth Carolina bipartisan bill seeks to validate sports betting

In 2025, a new measure seeks to legalise sports betting in South Carolina, a state known for having very little legal gambling. A maximum cap of eight licensees is one of the details of the proposed market that are outlined in the law. To be considered, applying operators must already be offering sports betting in at least five jurisdictions. 12.5% of operators' adjusted gross income would be the state tax rate for online sports betting. Successful candidates would pay a $1 million licensing fee in addition to a $100,000 application cost. Five years would be the duration of full licenses.
