South Carolina legislators set to discuss bill that may allow lottery to finance private education vouchers

Restoring the school scholarship program that would allow the use of state lottery funds for preschool and public education is the goal of a proposed bill in the South Carolina Legislature.

The first topic of debate when South Carolina lawmakers begin the next legislative session is whether lottery funds should be used for private tuition under the school voucher program.

States often use lottery revenue to fund public education. This money will also be used to pay for private tuition if the bill passes.
