South Korea government set to crack down on illegal gambling

In response to a legal loophole that has permitted de facto gambling at drinking establishments like the poker-themed bars known as hold'em pubs, the South Korean government announced on Friday that it has developed guidelines to crack down on companies that operate pseudo-casinos.

The National Police Agency, the National Gambling Control Commission, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism collaborated to develop guidelines regarding the prohibition of pseudo-casino operations. The guidelines delineate the requirements for these operations and were informed by a recent amendment to the Tourism Promotion Act.
