Spain becomes 12th country to join Macolin Convention

Spain has formally ratified the Macolin Convention, which is the sole international legal regulation pertaining to the manipulation of sporting events in Europe.

The convention between the Council of Europe and the country's ambassador and permanent representative was signed, according to the country's national gambling regulator.

Later, on October 17, Spain ratified the convention. The regulator has called the move a "fundamental step" in the fight against sports manipulation, and the convention will go into effect on February 1, 2025.
