In Texas hold ‘em, sometimes multiple players have two pair that beat the other hands at the table. When that happens, the pot gets split evenly among the top two pair hands.
Now take this scen’rio - me and ole Johnny have the top two hands, both two pair queens. We’re gonna split that pot right down the middle, fifty-fifty. Even though Johnny’s pair queens are a jack-high kicker while mine are ten-high, a pair’s a pair in poker. The kickers and high cards don’t matter for determining best hand - it’s just the ranked pairs.
So if there’s an odd chip or two leftover, you just have the dealers toss ‘em in the pot as a premium. The important thing is we split it up fair and even, just like good partners would. Them’s the rules of the road in poker!
