Sports betting lawsuit against Puerto Rico gambling regulator dismissed

A judge last week dismissed The Stadium company's lawsuit against the gaming regulator. They claimed that sports betting companies treated each other unfairly and unequally. This lawsuit is among the first pertaining to sports betting to make it to court.

Puerto Rico has legalized both in-person and online sports betting; however, registration must still take place in person. The Stadium thinks the regulatory commission's interpretation of the rules may have gone too far.

The laws governing sports betting were drafted more than ten years ago. To guarantee that only people who were eighteen years of age or older could place bets, it included an in-person registration requirement.
