St. Louis County officials compromise on indoor casino smoking

The St. Louis County Council and Penn Entertainment, which runs River City Casino and Hollywood Casino, have come to an agreement about indoor smoking. A municipal ballot initiative from 2018 forbade smoking inside casinos in St. Louis County. After casinos reported lower gaming income and the county saw its annual tax benefit decline, voters reversed the smoke-free ordinance barely two years later. Only 10 states have outright restrictions on smoking at casinos, according to the American Gaming Association.
