Stakeholders in Germany ask for changes to gambling regulations

To enhance protection against illicit operators in the gambling industry, stakeholders in Germany have urgently called for revisions to the 2021 Interstate Gambling Treaty. The treaty, which was ratified by the German Federal States in March of that year and took effect on July 1, 2021, currently prohibits all online gambling activities except for licensed traditional lotteries, sports betting, horse racing, specific online poker, virtual slot machines, and online casino games, within certain limits. Once again, stakeholders within the domestic gambling sector have stressed the immediate necessity of making substantial amendments to the treaty to fulfill its original objective of safeguarding consumer well-being.
