Star Entertainment and Crown Resorts set to pay more gambling taxes

Australia's New South Wales casino operators will not be able to avoid increasing their taxes. Maybe Star Entertainment and Crown Resorts were able to persuade the state government to be lenient with them. Changes, however, will result from a new tax agreement signed on Monday night.

With retroactive effect from July 1, 2023, the tax rates for The Star and Crown will rise. Furthermore, until a new tax takes effect on July 1, 2030, The Star will be subject to a transitional tax on slot machines, even though Crown already knew it wouldn't be able to negotiate a new agreement.
