Star Entertainment casino fined $92,000 for gambling rule violations

After a Queensland's Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation inquiry, Star Entertainment was assessed a US$92,000 punishment. The company was penalized for allowing patrons at both its Brisbane and Gold Coast casinos to illegitimately use their credit cards to buy gambling chips. The Brisbane Magistrates Court was informed that because there were insufficient controls over the card machines, patrons may use their credit cards to make significant deposits into their casino accounts, potentially enabling them to play beyond their means.
