Star Entertainment in new scandal over gaming chips

Star has acknowledged that it sold gaming chips at its Treasury Casino illegally, dealing a blow to the Australian gaming industry. It achieved this by permitting bettors to make purchases using credit cards.

Star permitted customers to pay with credit cards for chips when they visited its casinos in Queensland. The company's admission that it had falsified records to let Chinese gamblers use their UnionPay cards was the direct cause of these revelations. Chinese law states that those bank cards cannot be used to make gambling-related purchases.
