Store employee arrested for stealing winning lottery ticket

According to allegations, a gas station employee in Tennessee stole a winning $1 million scratch-off lottery ticket from a customer and attempted to claim the cash prize.

When the two scratch-off tickets were checked and it was discovered that both were winners, the suspect was taken into custody; he retained the winning ticket that had won $1 million. It wasn't until detectives contacted the unidentified winner to let him know about the employee's theft that he realized he had won the big prize. Rutherford County Adult Detention Center is housing the offender on a theft charge exceeding $250,000.
