Sweden government considering closure of last remaining land-based casino

The final land-based casino in Sweden may close, according to the country's government.

The ability of state-owned businesses to operate casinos would be restricted by a recently drafted proposal. Although it has been legal in Sweden since 1994, land-based gaming is only permitted at Casino Cosmopol, a division of Svenska Spel, the country's operator.

Sundsvall, Gothenburg, Malmö, and Stockholm were the four locations of the casino until recently. Still standing, though, is the one in Stockholm.
