Swedish Trade Association for Online Gambling supports tightened credit regulations

The Ministry of Justice's proposal to strengthen consumer protection against risky lending and over-indebtedness has the support of the Swedish industry group for online gambling.

With particular relevance to the gambling market, the proposed regulatory changes seek to create a stricter framework for consumer protection. In Sweden, a debt register has been implemented, and third parties are prohibited from promoting credit for gambling.

The investigation also looks into the possibility of outlawing credit card gambling.

The implementation of a debt log and limitations on external credit advertising for betting align with initiatives to lessen excessive debts among individuals who gamble.
