Thai academics argue future casino resorts to do more harm than good

Thailand has long been interested in entering the local casino resort market, and a bill that is currently being worked on should give the nation the opportunity to move forward and open its first casino resort before Japan, giving it an advantage.

Although they wouldn't be barred from playing, locals would have to pay 5,000 baht each time they wanted to enter the casino. An annual fee of 5,000 baht would be imposed on foreigners.
