Thailand casino establishment progress usurps Japan

Thailand's casino legalization process is moving forward to meet the prime minister's goal of opening a casino within two years, thanks to almost unanimous parliamentary support and cabinet approval. The establishment of entertainment complexes featuring gaming in popular tourist destinations throughout the kingdom commences with this step.

Thailand has advanced much more quickly than Japan, which has moved slowly toward casino gaming. In 2013, the world's third largest economy began its successful legalization process. In 2018, the final legislative approval was granted. An integrated resort is not anticipated to open before 2030, with the first license being granted in 2023. There are still two unused authorized licenses. Officials from both the national and local levels seem to be waiting for the other side to initiate action.
