The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario introduces ban on athlete advertising

In Ontario, it is now illegal to use athletes for marketing or advertising purposes related to video games.

Athletes, whether active or retired, may not be used in igaming marketing or advertising by registered Ontario igaming operators, unless it is solely for the aim of promoting responsible gaming. The guidelines also prohibit the use of entertainers, celebrities, role models, social media influencers, cartoon characters, and symbols that are probably going to appeal to children.
