In September, the South Dakota Commission on Gaming revealed that bets in Deadwood amounted to $140 million, showing a 4.64% drop from the previous year. Slot machines saw $131.5 million in bets, experiencing a 5.2% decline, while table games had a $7.6 million handle, marking a 1.4% increase. Sports wagering, with a $979,693 handle, demonstrated a significant 37.7% year-on-year growth.

Breaking down sports bets, the NFL led with $425,937.96, followed by NCAA Football at $324,804.06 and Major League Baseball at $155,641.77.

Mike Rodman, the executive director of the Deadwood Gaming Association, commented on the revenue decrease in September, noting that despite this, the year-to-date increase stands at 2.63%. Sports wagering's year-to-date increase is even more impressive, up by 25.25%. While Deadwood sports book operators didn't quite hit their goal of a million-dollar month for sports wagers, the overall performance remains positive.
