The possibility of expanding gambling in North Carolina seems to be no longer feasible after legislators dropped the idea of including casinos in the state budget. Past unsuccessful attempts to legalize casinos in the Tar Heel State prompted a group of lawmakers to try to manipulate the state budget in order to approve four new casinos and legalize video lottery terminals. Nevertheless, these plans have been put on hold as Republican leaders conveyed to the media that they will not pursue this venture at the present moment.
