The Massachusetts Gambling Commission decided to grant Encore Boston Harbor the very first sports gambling license for the state on Thursday.
Following the deferral of similar votes for other businesses earlier this week, especially Plainridge Park Casino because of its connections to Barstool Sports owner Dave Portnoy, the statement was made.
The Wynn Resorts-owned Encore Casino received unanimous approval from the commission to receive a license. However, the casino won't be able to accept bets on sporting events just yet, as the Committee has set an opening date for Massachusetts sports gambling for late January.
