There was a time sometimes around 2021 the government of Nigeria planned to impose taxes on the winnings of people that won from online casinos and any other kind of gamble. obviously , offline casino are not very common in Nigeria but there was a protest and the people marched to the headquarters of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission and protested against the policy. The government later had a change of mind. Is it really good for government to impose taxes on winnings?

Nigeria does not collect taxes on winnings but they do collect taxes from casinos and all betting companies and this is indeed a very good feature that the government could give to the citizens.

Taxes are not forced on people. They are the money that citizens need to pay in order to generate money for the government. There is no sense in the protest. The casino company has been given conducive environment for their business, then they need to do the needful

It is a civic responsibility of the citizens to pay taxes and it is obligatory that you must . No one would force you to pay taxes but it is a must and your responsibility to do so and you must always follow the rules and regulation.

Is not a right thing for government to impose taxes on people's wining ticket, it's very wrong, other developer country like usa do impose taxes in Their people and it's a develop country and not Nigeria

it's really not right for the government to impose huge taxes or heavy taxes on casino platform , because there are really some casino platform that are struggling to grow and imposing huge taxes is actually not good

The government of Nigeria has done a wonderful job by not collecting taxes on winnings. This is indeed a great job from them and I want to commend them that they are doing this wonderful favour.
