The impact of surrender on the BJA strategy chart

Does anyone know how the 'surrender' option impacts the basic strategy as shown in the basic BJA chart? I have seen some casinos offer the surrender rule in their games and was wondering if the standard hit/stand/double/split strategy changes at all based on the surrender option? In my experience the surrender option can be beneficial when dealt a poor hand as it gives back half your bet but I'm not sure if the basic strategy mathematically alters with this rule. Any insights from experienced players would be appreciated!

Early and late surrenders are the two main varieties, with late surrenders being more typical. While late surrender occurs after the dealer checks for blackjack, early surrender allows players to surrender before the dealer does so.
