The Lottery Corporation has requested an exception from impending gambling reform that aims to prohibit bettors from engaging in gambling activities using credit cards, citing the "minimal harm" caused by lotteries. The $10 billion betting powerhouse urged the Senate, in a submission filed on Tuesday, to support the suggestions to exempt lotteries from the Interactive Gambling Amendment Bill and enable customers to persist in purchasing lottery tickets with credit cards. The national government accelerated the legislation to disallow online betting firms from accepting credit cards, following the recent investigation by parliament into the detrimental effects of online gambling, which proposed a ban.
