The NSW government is investing $100 million on gambling harm reduction.

The recent allocation of AU$100m by the New South Wales administration towards the prevention of gambling-related harm during GambleAware week is a significant development. This financial injection forms part of the inaugural budget of the Minns Labor government and is sourced from the penalty imposed on Star Casino by the NSW Independent Casino Commission. The diverted fine will be utilized for the purpose of minimizing the adverse effects of gambling, with a notable allocation of $6.4m earmarked for enhancing self-exclusion measures and the introduction of third-party exclusions in pubs and clubs. Additionally, an amount of $3.4m will be granted to an independent panel, established in July this year, for the facilitation and evaluation of a trial aimed at promoting cashless gaming in pubs and clubs.
