The ownership rights of ATG will be resolved in 2024.

In 2024, the Swedish horseracing industry has emphasized the need to address the governance structure of ATG (Aktiebolaget Trav och Galopp). This statement was made by Anders Källström, Chairman of Svensk Travsport, during the autumn meeting of the Stockholm Harness Racing Society.

ATG, which functions as the totalizer and betting network for Swedish racing, was established in 1974 as a government initiative to ensure sustainable funding for stakeholders involved in thoroughbred racing and trotting in Sweden.

Svensk Travsport, the Trotting and Breeders Association of Sweden, holds a 91% stake in ATG, while the remaining 9% is maintained by Svensk Galopp, the Horseracing Authority of Sweden. Despite independent ownership, the governance of ATG is overseen by the Swedish government through a contract between Svensk Travsport and Svensk Galopp.

Ongoing discussions with government officials, spanning two years, have focused on reducing the state's role in board appointments and granting more influence to the company's owners.
