The prohibition on skill games in Virginia will take effect next month.

In Virginia, small businesses with electronic skill game machines must remove them within a month and stop offering these activities. The state Supreme Court lifted the injunction on the ban of these skill game machines earlier this month, and they've announced that the ban will be in full effect starting November 26.

The Supreme Court overturned a previous decision that said banning skill games would violate freedom of speech laws in 2021. This allowed operators to keep offering their games across Virginia. However, the recent court ruling stated that gambling is an activity that can be regulated or even prohibited by the state as part of its legal authority.

The court made it clear that while distinguishing between speech and conduct can be tough sometimes, gambling is firmly considered an activity that the state can heavily regulate or even ban for the public good.
