While skillful card counting can improve the odds for players in blackjack, we rarely see honest dealers turning to cheating even after years on the job. What psychological factors make people refrain from dishonest behaviors, even when opportunities for gain seem high? In my experience as a winning player, I'd say things like a desire to maintain one's internal integrity and the fear of social reprimand if caught still hold powerful sway over most individuals. Do you think the risk/reward calculus around cheating ever shifts for dealers after seeing so many players win big?
