The second Georgia sports betting measure would circumvent voter referendum.

A new billhas been introduced in the state legislature to legalize sports betting. It suggests placing sports betting under the lottery's control by amending the existing Georgia Lottery for Education Act.

The proposed law wouldn't require a voter referendum, aiming to amend rather than expand gambling laws.

The Georgia Lottery would regulate sports betting, allowing up to 16 online sportsbook licenses. Interested parties must pay a $100,000 application fee.
