Online poker sites provide a convenient platform for players to access poker anytime, anywhere. However, the anonymous nature of the internet also enables unfair practices that hurt the integrity of the game. Here are some issues I believe online poker sites need to address:
Botting - The use of computer programs to play automatically. Bots make optimal moves without human emotion, which is difficult for real players to compete against.
Collusion - When two or more players work together secretly to divide the pot between themselves. This undermines the individual skill required in poker.
Account sharing - When one player allows others to use their account, combining bankrolls and skills beyond what one player could have.
Without adequate monitoring and response from online poker sites, these dishonest tactics threaten the legitimacy of the competition and the trust needed for players like myself to enjoy online poker in the long run. What other issues would you add to improve the health of online poker? I welcome others' perspectives.
