The University of Sydney's gambling research raises conflict of interest concerns

The Centre of Excellence in gaming Research, recently announced by the University of Sydney, has drawn criticism due to the significant financial support it has received from gaming corporations and related parties, amounting to over US$511,676.

The center's main area of study will be gambling behavior and preventative measures.

Potential conflicts of interest have come to light as a result of this collaboration with significant gaming companies.

Since the partnership will enable live trials and treatments to alter gambling habits, some experts have expressed worries about the objectivity of the research.
