The Union Cabinet approved the enabling modifications to GST-related legislation on Wednesday in accordance with the decision made in the (GST) Council meeting to charge a tax of 28% on the entire face value of bets in gambling on the internet, casinos, and horses race clubs, sources said.
It is expected that the GST Council-approved revisions to the Central GST (CGST) as well as Integrated GST (IGST) acts would be submitted during the current monsoon session of Parliament, which ends on August 11.
