Top bookmaker allegedly used illegal websites and engaged in money-laundering

According to court records, accused illegal bookmaker Mathew Bowyer used Costa-Rican betting websites, had over 700 clients, and laundered money through several casinos.

An 18-year prison term with three years of probation is the maximum punishment he could receive. The maximum penalty for him would be two times the "gross gain or gross loss resulting from the offenses," or seventy-five thousand dollars.
