Turkish gangster sentenced to life for murder of Cypriot casino owner

After an Istanbul court determined that the 2022 shooting death of a casino owner in Northern Cyprus was a case of premeditated murder, a Turkish mobster received two life sentences. The victim, a well-known personality in the local online gambling sector, possessed a five-star hotel and casino in Northern Cyprus.

Due to the de facto status of Northern Cyprus, recognized solely by Turkey, neither the US nor the UK has an extradition treaty with it. As a result, the suspect was never brought to justice in these countries.
