According to a Gujarat police official, two people were detained for allegedly using fake websites to live stream T20 World Cup cricket matches in order to place bets.
The crime branch launched its investigation in response to complaints about certain websites transmitting, rebroadcasting, telecasting, downloading, and streaming these matches illegally. Star India Private Limited, the company that owned the streaming rights, suffered financial losses as a result, the official said.
