UK's gambling affordability checks set to be abolished after public disapproval

An important victory has been secured by those opposed to the UK government's plan to make affordability checks for bettors and gamblers mandatory. More than 102,424 people have signed an official petition opposing the invasive measure, requiring parliamentary intervention.

The online petition, which was hosted by the government, exceeded the necessary 100,000 signatures.
The petition draws attention to the many people's worries about the suggested affordability checks. According to the most recent iteration of the program, people would have to demonstrate their financial stability if their gambling losses hit £125 in a single month or £500 annually.
