New rules in New South Wales mandate that venues with over 20 poker machines must have a designated gambling officer starting July.
These Responsible Gambling Officers will identify and assist patrons showing concerning gambling behavior. Larger venues with 100+ machines will need more officers.
The changes aim to support the 1 in 3 regular gamblers at risk, gradually implementing them starting July 1 under the Gaming Machines Regulation 2019 legislation
