United States Commercial Gambling Revenue Increased in July 2023

In July 2023, total commercial gambling revenue or gross gaming revenue (GGR) in the United States reached $5.39 billion according to the American Gaming Association, a 6% increase over the same month last year.
Slot machine revenue, which remains the largest segment, was $3.13 billion for July 2023 up 3% compared to July 2022. Table games followed with revenue of $976.3 million, a 2% increase year-over-year.
Sports betting saw significant growth of 28% driven by new offerings in states like Massachusetts and Ohio. Online or iGaming revenue rose 23% to $481.5 million as more options became available to players.
While slots and table games continue to dominate commercially, other forms of gambling like sports betting and iGaming are expanding across the United States bringing greater revenue. Overall, the American commercial gambling industry experienced a modest increase in July 2023 sustained by growth in emerging markets.
