Unlicensed gambling led French bookmakers to take half bets at Euro 2024

The online gaming association has stated that its members have taken approximately half of the estimated handle for Euro 2024 as a result of unlicensed betting. According to the French gambling regulator, bettors from France were expected to wager €1 billion on the tournament held in Germany. The actual amount was, however, about half of that.

Four million people would be using the black market for gambling in 2023, the regulator warned, as the number of people using unlicensed operators had surpassed those using licensed ones.
