The $2.5 billion gaming agreement between Florida and the Seminole Tribe, the owners of the Hard Rock Casino brand, was upheld by the US Supreme Court on Wednesday.
Following a two-year break, the tribe can now openly offer mobile sports betting across the state thanks to the ruling. However, it's unclear if it would be in the tribe's best interest to do so, given the numerous legal challenges to the compact that are still pending.
West Flagler Associates, a pari-mutuel operator, has contested the compact's constitutionality. A lower court decision that would have permitted the compact to go into effect had been given a long-term stay by its attorneys.
