Vermont bill seeking to legalize online betting on the verge of passage

Since 2018, Vermont sports betting bills have been debated in the state capital of Montpelier. That's when the United States Supreme Court overturned a federal law that restricted single-game sports wagering to Nevada. However, the chances of a sports gambling bill finally passing in Vermont appear to be better than ever. This bill seeks to legalize the operation of online sportsbooks within the state. Only bettors who are at least 21 years old and physically located in Vermont would be able to participate. This bill received support from the House Ways and Means Committee this week. Following a reading in the review panel tasked with identifying methods for boosting tax revenue, members voted nearly unanimously to pass the law.
