A formal memorandum of understanding has been established between the V.I. Department of Health and the V.I. Casino Control Commission to address problem gambling throughout the territory.
The signing ceremony, which took place at the office of the V.I. Casino Control Commission, represents a cooperative endeavor to offer focused assistance to those who are battling gambling addiction.
As per the agreement, seven counselors—three on St. Croix and St. Thomas and one on St. John—will receive training and certification funding from the V.I. Casino Control Commission. After that, residents will be able to receive counseling services from these qualified experts.
Essential skills in risk factor assessment, suicide prevention, and treatment techniques are covered in the training. The International Gambling Counselor Certification Board has recognized the counselors' international certification as a result of their supervision by board-approved clinical consultants.
