Virginia lottery board petitioned to dismiss Norfolk casino license application

The Virginia Lottery Board has been asked to reject a Norfolk casino license application by a Virginia Beach-based law firm.

Only applications for facility operator licenses from "preferred casino gaming" in eligible cities may be reviewed by the Virginia Lottery Board.

A lobbying group and law firm that has long defended The Cordish Companies' interests in Virginia wrote to the state lottery commission, which oversees casino gambling in the commonwealth, asking that Norfolk's casino proposal be turned down.
