Warnings issued after Australian gambling syndicates offer money for documents

The government is concerned about the risks of identity theft, and gambling syndicates are offering men up to $400 if they give them their passport, driver's license, bank and Medicare information, and selfies so they can wager in other people's names.

Concerns regarding alias betting accounts, also known as "bowler accounts," undermining anti-money laundering compliance systems have also been voiced by academics and industry sources.
