Watuaga Poker Club owner to plead guilty to organized crime

The owner of the Watauga Social Lounge Poker Club in Fort Worth, Texas, will enter a guilty plea to one count of promoting gambling and another of engaging in organized criminal activity. As part of his plea agreement, a third charge against operating a gambling establishment was dropped.

Like everywhere else, Texas prohibits gambling in general unless the legislature specifically approves it. However, the state's poker clubs contend that they are able to operate lawfully because of a legal loophole.
