The following are the baccarat fundamental rules:

Six to eight decks of cards are commonly used to play a game of baccarat.
The player's hand and the banker's hand are the two hands used in the game.
The aim of the game is to place a wager on the hand you think will have a total that is closest to 9.
Aces are for one point in baccarat, cards 2 through nine are worth their face value, while 10s and face cards (King, Queen, and Jack) are worth zero points.
Both the player and the banker are dealt two cards at the start of the game.
It is a victory if either the player or the banker has a total of 8 or 9 from the first two cards (referred to as a "natural").

If neither the player nor the banker has a natural, a third card may be drawn if certain circumstances are met. If the player's total is 5 or less, he/she will draw a third card. If the player stands and the banker's total remains 0-5, the banker draws a third card. If the player stands with a total of 6 or 7, the banker will stand on a total of 6 or 7 and draw a third card on a total of 0-5.
The hand with a total closer to 9 wins.
In the game of baccarat, the aim is to bet on the winning hand. Players may place bets on either the player's hand, the banker's hand, or make a tie bet. Ties are infrequent in this game, but they pay out 8 to 1 or 9 to 1, depending on the casino's rules.
The payouts for player and banker bets are both even money, minus a 5% commission, which is taken by the house. Therefore, if a player bets $20 on the banker and wins, he/she will receive a payout of $19.
