For me, properly counting cards and understanding the odds is key to coming out ahead over the long run. But even with knowledge and strategy, there are still risky decisions to make at the table. So what are the real odds of busting when hitting on a soft 22 in blackjack? In my experience, it depends on the deck, but I'd estimate around a 40% chance of going over, making it a risky play in most situations. Skillful hesitation can be more valuable than bold action.
